SPIT Watch: Comarch Eyes Expansion

Polish Service Provider Information Technology (SPIT) vendor Comarch SA has its eyes set on further international growth after seeing its non-domestic sales rise in 2009.

The company, which offers a range of OSS platforms, IT systems, and professional services to telecom operators, media firms, and enterprises of all sizes, saw non-domestic sales rise to 44 percent of its total in 2009, from 21 percent in 2008. (See Comarch Unveils New OSS.)

Table 1: Comarch Grows International and TMT Sales

Total revenues 701 million 730.6 million
% of total revenues from international sales 21% 44%

It also boosted its sales to telecom, media, and IT companies in 2009 by almost 30 percent to 148.5 million Polish zlotych (€38.2 million/US$51.4 million), notching up a number of deals in Germany and the Netherlands in particular. (See Comarch Boasts 2009 Growth and 6GMOBILE Bills With Comarch.)

And it has another significant deal in the pipeline in Germany, having been chosen by mobile operator E-Plus Mobilfunk GmbH as "a strategic outsourcing partner for Next Generation Network Planning," with a five-year managed services deal set to be signed in May.

The deal includes network planning and configuration platforms, along with data migration and integration services, to support the operator's radio access and transport network expansion.

Now the Polish player smells an opportunity to boost its international sales further, as it also saw growth in revenues from enterprise customers in the DACH (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, somehow) region last year.

The company, which has hinted at potential acquisitions to aid its growth plans, says it will push more aggressively into this region, as well as build on its initial forays into Asia/Pacific.
