Samsung Bets on Beppe for Euro Leadership

Samsung is picking up more former Nokia talent to help boost its network business in Europe.

Samsung Corp. has tapped Giuseppe "Beppe" Donagemma to be the head of Samsung Networks Europe (SNE). Donagemma was formerly head of Nokia Siemens Networks West and South Europe (WSE) region and has most recently been an advisor at private equity and investment firms. (See NSN Names New Euro Chief.)

Samsung says that Donagemma has more than 20 years' experience managing the operations of global networks.

Donagemma is not the only heavy hitter that Samsung has recently enlisted from the old NSN business. Last year, Samsung asked former NSN CEO Simon Beresford-Wylie to help advise it on how to grow globally in the mobile infrastructure market. (See Samsung Enlists Ex-NSN Boss for Networks Help.)

In November, Beresford-Wylie took on the role full-time as global executive advisor to Samsung's network business.

Re: Action time for Samsung Networks! Ray,

" . . . let's see what kind of presence its Networks unit puts up at Mobile World Congress!"

This year the MWC will be fascinating. Not only to see what the established companies will have in offer but also because last year several new mobile companies in Europe launched their first product. If all goes well I might be attending the MWC this year. :)

Re: Action time for Samsung Networks! They're in a good position to do combo multi-band 4G/3G networks thanks to the work they've already done with Sprint.
