Nominum Demos VOIP Peering
This demonstration incorporates Nominum Navitas, the industry’s first ENUM-based IP-application Routing Directory, NeuStar’s SIP-IX services which enable interoperability for VoIP peering architecture, and Nortel’s open and standards based IMS Core including the CSCF, HSS and MGCF elements. Designed and optimized for the routing demands of converging broadband and communications networks, this architecture fills an essential role in emerging VoIP peering architectures and IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS), providing greater visibility into the routing infrastructure and accelerating the delivery of high quality, low cost voice, video and data services, all over cable IP networks.
Nominum Navitas enables this VoIP Peering solution by sitting at a critical point in new network topologies and provides the necessary information to route sessions between IP networks, eliminating the need to convert the call using the traditional TDM-based Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). Additionally, calls to non-VoIP phones via the PSTN, can be routed using the most cost-effective and efficient manner, remaining on the VoIP network as long as possible.
The combination of NeuStar, Nortel and Nominum technologies demonstrates leading edge capabilities in the optimization of VoIP call routing management and low-latency responses under heavy load, improving margins and achieving better quality of service, required for VoIP networks.
