Wanted: Wisdom of the Crowd (That’s YOU)

What's your view on some of the most important issues in the telecom industry today?

We want to find out.

Light Reading's Big Telecom Event (BTE) is only a few weeks away (as if you didn't know that). Heavy Reading 's elite analyst team is now prepping some eye-popping content that will thrill and delight the hordes of attendees heading for Chicago. (See BTE: Kind of a Big Deal.)

A big part of BTE is putting the telecom industry's latest ideas and technology developments to a rigorous reality check. And who better to help us with that reality check than the loyal readers of Light Reading?

We've created a superfast (as in, two-minute) survey to get your opinion on the key issues that we'll be addressing at BTE. You can take the survey by clicking on this cleverly named link:

This is your chance to let us know your take on telecom's present and future prospects. Everyone who takes the survey (and it's open to the entire industry) will get a copy of the final results, which we'll distribute after BTE.

Thanks in advance for your help, and we look forward to sharing your collective wisdom with you.

Re: lol netflix Many many years ago, I read somewhere the following (I may be paraphrasing):

The folly of autocracy is that it presumes that one man is right and ten thousand men are wrong.

The folly of democracy is that it presumes that ten thousand men are right and one man is wrong.

Anyway, I think I voted for Elop.

Re: lol netflix Hey, despite being a Transformers rip-off, Gobots was a darn good show.  I even had some of the figures.

Re: lol netflix Couldn't agree more--if we're not already, we'll all soon be Gobots!

Re: lol netflix Hastings also has 12% of the Hall of Fame votes so far, second only to Cisco's Chambers. Just sayin'.

Re: lol netflix Well, it all depends on the FCC, of course, but Google is by far the dark horse here because it's slowly -- and you'll pardon me for saying so -- taking over the world, and it's doing so in a way that it doesn't matter much what the heck FCC has to say about net neutrality.

Re: lol netflix Hi, Joe -- The first wave of respondents have identified OTT providers as the biggest outside competitive threat to network operators -- by a fairly wide margin over network overbuilders. I expect the numbers to shift a bit, but the early precincts are showing concern about OTT providers, despite (or because of?) Reed Hastings.

lol netflix When I read the question that suggested that Netflix was a threat to the telecom industry, I had to smirk.

Google, yes.  Netflix?  Talk to me again when the board replaces Hastings.

Take the survey! That is one meaty survey. Looking forward to seeing the results as there aren't really any clear-cut answers to any of the questions.
