TORONTO -- Redknee Solutions Inc. ("Redknee" or the "Company") (AIM: RKN), a leading provider of innovative infrastructure software that monetizes and personalizes services and content for mobile operators, today announced that an East African alliance ("the alliance") of mobile operators, led by Safaricom, has chosen Redknee's Mobile Money Services for its international prepaid roaming top-up service.

The alliance, consisting of six East African operators including Safaricom, MTN Uganda, Vodacom Tanzania, MTN Rwanda, UCOM (Burandi) and Uganda Telecom, together serve an estimated 13 million subscribers. The alliance will use the capabilities of the Redknee solution to provide roaming recharge services and transfer of airtime. The Redknee system will be used to enhance the borderless mobile network service called KAMA KAWAIDA. KAMA KAWAIDA allows the subscribers of alliance member operators to move freely across the five countries just as they would on their home network.

"We have a trusted relationship with Redknee, as an innovative product provider. Following a stringent evaluation process, we have decided to enhance the KAMA KAWAIDA service using Redknee's Mobile Money Services for its roaming recharge and airtime transfer capabilities," said Michael Joseph, CEO for Safaricom. "The Redknee Solution answers our need for functionality, scalability and flexibility. We expect the enhanced solution to result in greater subscriber satisfaction and measurable heightened overall subscriber spending. We are excited about this new KAMA KAWAIDA service and working with Redknee to further demonstrate our commitment to the growth and economic development initiatives in the region."

Emerging markets such as East Africa, are experiencing rapid growth in mobile telecommunications with an estimated annual subscriber increase of over 20 percent. In order to meet the escalating demand and capture market share, mobile operators in these regions are offering more subscriber-centric services such as Redknee's Mobile Money Services. In addition to the roaming recharge and airtime transfer capabilities extended to the KAMA KAWAIDA alliance, Redknee's Mobile Money Services solution also offers Mobile Money Transfer, Mobile Top-up and Mobile Wallet services.

"We take great pride in working with Safaricom and its partners in this borderless network initiative," said Lucas Skoczkowski, CEO of Redknee. "This Mobile Money product win is a significant strategic achievement for Redknee to further expand our leadership in Africa. We continue to invest in Africa, the Middle East and South East Asia, where we are focusing on product-based solutions along with strong localized support to address the needs of the mobile operators in these regions of rapid growth."
