Spare Change, Buddy?

4:15 PM -- "Change." It's the buzzword of the campaign season. Candidates love it. Pundits love it. Monkeys love it. Because, after all, it requires so little thought. In fact, being a rather value-neutral term, it doesn't really bear up very well under (what I like to call) thinking. They're all in favor of it -- nay, they exemplify it:

Mitt: "Americans are not looking for Washington insiders. They are looking for change, and change is what we are going to give them."

Hillary: “Together, we have presented the case for change and have made it absolutely clear that America needs a new beginning.”

Edwards: “Change is tomorrow and tomorrow begins today.”

Heraclitus: "You cannot step into the same stream twice."

Hucklebee: "Americans are looking for a change."

Ex-Richardson: "I love change."

McCain: "Change is coming."

Obama: "Change Rocks!"

Rudy: not so much.

W: "If I were running for office at this point, I'd be saying, 'Vote for me, I'm -- I'm gonna be an agent of change.' "

And you know he would.
