Social.fm Goes Mobile

11:00 AM -- Social.fm has just launched the mobile version of its online music service, reports MobHappy.

I installed the S60 version to a dual-mode Nokia E61. It regularly disconnects on 3G. I'm sitting about 100 meters from a base station (eek!), so it's not a signal strength issue. WiFi is not much more reliable.

Great idea, though. Download it here: http://www.social.fm/mobile/.

It's free until the end of November. Let us know if you like it.

re: Social.fm Goes Mobile
In the context of today's big Verizon news about open networks, I should note it's very cool to be able to download an app to an unlocked device and then stream radio across T-Mobile UK's 3G networkGǪ all without paying a penny extra.

Pandora, Last.FM, Radio365, and, I'd guess, a host of other music providers, are working on off-deck mobile strategies.

What will be interesting is whether carriers start to bundle music for free with the monthly price plan. That's what Voda seems to planning with MusicStation in the UK.
