Vodafone Portugal today started to roll out 4G commercial services on its fourth generation mobile network.

In introducing services on 4G technology, Vodafone is once again positioning itself at the forefront of providing innovative services to customers, after being the first operator in Portugal and one of the first in the world to launch a 4G-ready device. At this initial stage Vodafone’s 4G coverage serves a significant slice of Lisbon and Porto and is also available in the other district capitals (Aveiro, Beja, Braga, Bragança, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Évora, Faro, Guarda, Leiria, Portalegre, Santarém, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real and Viseu) as well as in Funchal and Ponta Delgada. Coverage will be progressively extended to the rest of the country.

Vodafone is introducing two new Mobile Broadband plans so that users can benefit from the advantages of 4G technology, offering download speeds up to 50Mbps and up to 100Mbps with monthly charges of €49.99 and €59.99, respectively. Vodafone today also launched the '4G Pioneers' campaign which offers a 50% discount on the price of the Vodafone Connect Pen K5005 together with a 50% discount on the monthly charges for the 4G plans for 24 months. Under this campaign, customers can purchase the 4G pen, which is compatible with the 3G network, for €79.90 and use Vodafone's 4G service from €24.90 per month.

Besides the 4G pen, Vodafone will introduce in the market other 4G devices, such as smartphones and tablets, as soon as they are available to be commercially launched.
