SingTel contracts Sheer Networks to provide its MetroCentral Broadband Operating System as the core of SingTel's OSS solution

SINGAPORE -- Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel), a leading global operator and major broadband provider, has awarded Sheer Networks a multi-million US$ contract to provide the Sheer MetroCentral™ Broadband Operating System as the core of SingTel’s next-generation Operations Support System (OSS) Broadband Network Management System (BNMS). Sheer Networks will provide SingTel with end-to-end Fault Management, Provisioning and Performance applications through its Sheer MetroCentral™ Assurance and Sheer MetroCentral™ Fulfillment solutions.The Sheer MetroCentral™ Broadband Operating System offers a “technology independent” network operations environment which will accelerate the introduction of new SingTel services on its DSL-based broadband network. It could also potentially be deployed for the management of other infrastructure within SingTel.Says Mr Robert Tan, SingTel’s Director, Transmission Network Planning: “We continually invest in our network and infrastructure to meet the needs of our customers. This includes enhancing our expanding broadband network with a state-of-the-art OSS. Our customers can look forward to quality broadband services, improved performance and high service level assurance.”The Sheer MetroCentral™ Assurance solution offers end-to-end, customer-centric performance assurance across multiple technological platforms. SingTel’s next-generation BNMS will be able to proactively detect and isolate network and service faults, and churn out immediate customer impact analyses.
