SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Silicon Access Networks, an industry leader in IC data path packet processing solutions, today announced it is now sampling the iFlow(TM) Packet Processor (iPP), a breakthrough network processor, supporting full-duplex data rates of 20 gigabits per second (Gbps) -- double that of competing solutions. The iPP is part of the iFlow Data Path Processing Platform (DP3), which is ideal for Metropolitan/Enterprise Gigabit Ethernet and Packet-over-SONET applications. "With the iPP now sampling, Silicon Access has reached a milestone in the industry," said Perry Constantine, president and CEO of Silicon Access Networks. "We have delivered a network processor with double the performance of our nearest competitor before many of them have even completed their designs. This achievement is a testament to the outstanding team we have built at Silicon Access, a team that I am confident will keep us in the lead in the network processor arena moving forward." Customers using Silicon Access' iPP solution can deliver routers and switches with the highest port density, lowest chip count and lowest power consumption currently possible. A single iPP device can support Layer 2-7 switching and routing up to 20 full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet ports simultaneously. In addition, designs using the Silicon Access Networks iFlow DP3 family use one-third the number of components and consume less than half the power of designs using competing 10Gbps solutions.
