SFR Femto Spotted

9:20 AM -- Remember when Unstrung reported earlier this year that SFR had an aggressive femtocell program and that a service launch was in the works in France? (See France Is Favorite for Femto First .)

Well, check out this photo of a Ubiquisys Ltd. ZoneGate femto with SFR's brand slapped on it from French Website, clubic.com. And then there's this one, with the SFR-branded femto sitting happily next to the Neufbox residential gateway.

SFR has not returned Unstrung's calls or emails requesting information.

Following our report, SFR’s network solution director, Thierry Berthouloux, said that SFR had no plans for a femtocell launch and had in fact put its RFQ process on hold until femtocell standards were solidified. (See SFR’s Femto Riposte and Operators Feel Femto Frustration.)

These photos suggest that SFR's program has moved on since the summer.
