FAREHAM, U.K. -- Germany’s Telefónica has selected Telsis Intelligent Network (IN) technology to play an enhanced role as the operator consolidates the wireline voice element of its triple-play services across the country.
Telefónica is deploying the latest generation of Telsis application server, Ocean 2280, both to control a rich portfolio of existing value-added services aimed at business and domestic customers, and to give its own engineers the in-house ability to develop and roll out new applications.
The new platform will replace earlier generation Telsis voice technology which was acquired by Telefónica when the operator bought former independent HanseNet in 2010. The original Telsis system had been the cornerstone of HanseNet voice services for more than 10 years. It so impressed Telefónica’s technical seniors that they ordered a doubling of capacity and marked out a larger, wider role in the combined mobile and fixed environment.
