BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK), a leading worldwide provider of video and communications network management and diagnostics solutions, launched its GeoProbe Video Monitoring solution for IPTV, the highest capacity, network-wide probing platform available for converged networks. Expanding its proven network assurance capabilities and experience in monitoring fixed, mobile and wireless networks around the globe, Tektronix' new GeoProbe Video Monitoring solution quantifies the quality of video transport services within IPTV and video over IP networks.

Building on its heritage of innovation and industry leadership in video and IP network test and monitoring, Tektronix delivers triple play capabilities into a single probe. The GeoProbe Video solution monitors broadcast and video on demand transport streams simultaneously across networks, enabling operators to proactively assess the real-time health and performance of their IPTV networks to isolate and resolve network problems before they occur.

“Because a successful video user experience is critical to the overall success of IPTV, operators need a proactive, network-wide monitoring system to assure network quality of service,” said Doug Dickerson, Vice President and General Manager, Network Management, Tektronix. “With Tektronix’ GeoProbe Video Monitoring solution, operators can quickly identify and resolve network issues that have a direct impact on network QoS and customer QoE. IPTV networks are complex – video content is digitized, encoded, packetized and transported across a network – errors are most likely to occur at the network transition points. Tektronix’ GeoProbe Video Monitoring solution has the capability of examining from 200 to more than 5,000 programs with a single probe.”
