CAMPBELL, Calif. -- Sylantro Systems, the leading provider of multiplay application feature servers for converged communication applications, expanded its Synergy Application Feature Server offering. The latest Synergy Release 4.2 is now available as three, new end-to-end editions for the hosted VoIP, mobile, and the emerging "Voice 2.0" markets.

"Over the past year our Synergy Application Feature Server and Synapps Web Services have seen significant success when deployed as a common capability across fixed-line networks, mobile (IMS) networks, and in real-time Web communication and collaboration interactions, validating our multiplay capabilities," said Marco Limena, president and chief executive officer of Sylantro Systems. "We are the only application feature server to demonstrate a single-vendor investment by a carrier that is being leveraged across multiple networks, and with multiple best-of-breed network equipment providers. Release 4.2 converts this traction into market-ready solutions for our global customer base of leading fixed, mobile, and converged service operators."

Synergy Release 4.2 is available in three editions:

  • A Hosted VoIP Edition with enhanced attendant functionality, including the industry's first hosted, browser-based Web Attendant Console for small and medium-size businesses; integrated SIP device management; and rich ACD reporting for driving adoption and reducing time to market. Continuing its investment in new user experiences that drive subscriber adoption, Sylantro is also offering a desktop widget pack for ACD agents and end-user telephony control.

  • A Voice 2.0 Edition that lets visionary operators extend their reach into new business and consumer experiences enabled by SOA and Web 2.0. Voice is moving beyond the PBX domain into new communication experiences that bridge Web, voice, and mobile interactions. The Voice 2.0 edition includes Sylantro's Synapps 2.0 call control and eventing Web services; a collaboration gateway for integration with collaboration environments such as Microsoft Live Communication Server and Lotus Sametime; and access to Synapps Central, a growing, hosted ecosystem of third-party Synapps developers and partners.

  • A Mobile Edition that solidifies Sylantro's IMS leadership while offering single-mode and dual-mode FMC capabilities that enable fixed-line operators to offer mobile extensions of their services to drive revenue and adoption today.

All solutions are optimized to take advantage of a high-performance, 64-bit computing architecture, resulting in almost 84% reduction in hardware CAPEX per subscriber and a five-fold increase in subscriber capacity.

"User expectations and communication habits are changing: people want always-on, anytime-anywhere access. Consequently, traditional voice experiences and applications must change and adapt to these changes -- or risk failure," said Joe McGarvey, senior analyst at Heavy Reading. "Sylantro's expertise in multiplay capabilities enables operators to focus on their core business while continuing to evolve towards converged services and applications, with a single investment and a leveraged common capability."
