Guido Garrone to take over as head of Swisscom's Network and Informatics division from January 1, 2008
October 5, 2007
BERN, Switzerland -- As a member of the Swisscom Group Executive Board, Guido Garrone will be responsible for Network & Informatics (CTO) at Swisscom Switzerland as well as for the long-term technology strategy and architecture of the Swisscom Group.
One of Guido Garrone's tasks will be to push ahead with the switchover to a modern IT- and IP-based network platform within the integrated Network and Informatics unit. These future integrated network and service platforms (All-IP) will provide the technical basis for Swisscom's convergent products. Guido Garrone (46) is from Milan and was previously responsible for Customer Operations & Technologies at Fastweb (Network, IT and Customer Service). An electrical engineer with additional management training, Guido Garrone co-founded Fastweb in 1999 and also played a key role in the development of the fully IP-based broadband network in Italy. His new role at Swisscom means that this know-how is now also available to the whole of the Swisscom Group.
The Network & Informatics Division has been headed ad interim since 1 August 2007 by Patrice Haldemann, who will gradually hand over his current tasks to Guido Garrone and assume new responsibilities within the Network & Informatics Division and will step down from the Group Executive Board at the end of 2007.
