NSN is reorganizing one of its three main divisions and replacing the executive currently at the helm, the vendor has confirmed.
The Business Solutions division, which houses the vendor's Service Provider Information Technology (SPIT) assets, will be smaller from Jan. 1, 2011. (See SPIT Week Spotlight: Nokia Siemens Networks.)
The division's IP telephony-related assets (known internally as the Voice and IP transformation businesses) will transfer to Networks Systems, while the division's security products and consulting and systems integration services will become part of NSN's mighty Global Services division.
As part of the slimming process, the current head of Business Solutions, Jürgen Walter, is leaving NSN. A spokeswoman for the company says NSN has started the search for a replacement, but, in the meantime, the vendor's CEO Rajeev Suri will "take over direct management" of the division "in order to have an opportunity to get close to the business, and a better understanding of the issues that it faces."
The new head of Business Solutions will be in charge of four units: Customer Insight and Experience (CIE); Operations Support Systems (OSS); Communication and Entertainment Solutions (CES); and Charging, Billing and Care (CBC).
In addition, the division will, according to NSN, also "lead new business opportunities to provide customer experience management to operators on 'software-as-a-service' basis."
