PHOENIX -- Cox Business announced today that it has completed fiber network extensions to one of the largest commercial data centers in the world.

i/o Data Centers’ Phoenix ONE colocation facility represents more than 530,000 square feet of data center space for businesses to house enterprise and mission critical IT systems. Customers in the recently-opened data center now have the ability to select Cox to provide reliable network connectivity for their hosted business needs.

“Cox has an established track record of providing secure and reliable data transport solutions for commercial businesses and communications carriers of all sizes,” said Hyman Sukiennik, vice president of Cox Business Arizona. “The i/o Data Centers’ Phoenix ONE facility houses some of the world’s largest corporations and Web properties, giving Cox Business an opportunity to serve an entirely new set of businesses.”

i/o Data Centers’ Phoenix ONE facility includes approximately 460,000 square feet of raised floor and utilizes advanced power, cooling and access control systems to ensure “always on” service. Phoenix ONE features multiple telecommunications carriers to provide broad Internet bandwidth options and create network redundancy.

Cox Business built dual fiber entries into the building, supported by redundant network switching centers. The connections reside on multiple OC-192 fiber rings, the highest network bandwidth available. Cox Business can serve as the primary and back-up network connection for all data center customers to meet their business continuity requirements. Existing Cox Business customers can easily extend their existing Cox Business wide area network services to connect to the data center.

“Because many of the servers support business critical applications, customers at our facilities are very concerned about reliability,” said Anthony Wanger, president, i/o Data Centers. “We’re glad to be able to offer our customers access to a variety of tier 1 carriers, including Cox, to provide that reliability.”
