BERNE, Switzerland -- Swisscom is launching a new universal connection kit, which will facilitate the rapid transmission of data throughout the home - with no need for any complicated installation or tangle of cables. Up to four devices may be linked to the connection kit, for instance a Swisscom TV box, PC, printer, games console or media player. If the connection kit is linked to a router, all the devices can access the Internet straight away, regardless of the location of the router or the nearest digital socket.

The new WLAN solution offers significantly improved coverage and transmission speed thanks to a clever combination of transmission technologies, such as the use of multiple antennas for each device (known as multiple-input multiple-output transmission) and the targeted transmission of signals in the direction of the receiver. This allows problem-free access to even bandwidth-heavy services such as HD TV in several rooms using the new universal connection kit, with no need for cabling throughout the home.

An innovation created by Swisscom, Quantenna and Netgear The connection kit was the result of close cooperation between Swisscom and its partners Quantenna and Netgear. Swisscom played a decisive role in the development of the product, ensuring that the needs of its customers were incorporated into the development process from very early on. Swisscom also played its part in the quality assurance process and fine-tuned the product together with Quantenna and Netgear.
