NSN's Hashtag Hell

5:45 AM -- How unlucky can you get? Ask Nokia Networks , otherwise known as NSN, which finds itself bereft of its obvious Twitter hashtag -- #NSN -- courtesy of global pop sensation Justin Bieber.

The fresh-faced warbler's 2010 concert tour documentary movie Never Say Never has swiped the #NSN hashtag, with hilarious consequences!

Ben Roome, the giant head of media relations at Nokia Siemens, notes in his Twitter feed that "Apparently, tag used for @NokiaSIemensNet - #NSN - 'hijacked' by Beliebers for film Never Say Never."

As a result, the tweets at #NSN are less about Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Service Provider Information Technology (SPIT) and more about, er, well, I dunno… ask a Belieber. Just don't expect a comprehensible answer.

I think it's only fair that, as compensation, Bieber should write and record a song for Nokia Siemens. Maybe UTRAN Smile?

40% of Americans also belieb the world is only about 10,000 years old.

Ben - I reckon you may need to get used to that TLA long-term, as I'm sure it's going to be the company's ticker symbol...  :-)

And re giant - well, we have the pictorial evidence...

(remember, you are some way in the background here)

And I looked in the Light Reading dictionary -- under giant, it says "anyone that causes neck pain after a few minutes standing chatting -- see http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01477/short_1477545c.jpg."

It's an open and shut case, surely!!

I'n not a fan of the unoffocial abbreviation anyway...

Nice. Cyber-squatting taken to the hashtag level, though a bit different since the community chooses how to use them instead of register them like a Web site.  I guess NSN's saving grace is that the movie's use of the hashtag should be short-lived, dying off after the marketing engine behind the movie's debut cools down.  JB

NSN will ultimately win as 40% of Americans believe Bieber will end up in rehab by age 30, according to 60 Minutes. Saw that fun fact today.

Ray, you seem to know an awful lot about Justin Bieber...just sayin.
