Some Winter Fun
Even in these days of 4G LTE-Advanced launches and 5G R&D investments, getting a GSM signal can still be regarded as a breakthrough for some.
Just ask the folks holed up at the Artigas Base scientific research station in the South Shetlands, Antarctica, who have just been connected to the 2G world courtesy of Chilean operator Antel, which has deployed Ericsson AB equipment at the icy location.

But when I saw the picture of the GSM installation, I immediately thought of the John Carpenter 1982 gorefest/thriller The Thing. It also brought to mind a few silly captions.
