SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Aicent Inc., a leading provider of mobile data network services and solutions for global mobile operators, today announced that Globe Telecom, Inc. (Globe), a major telecommunications provider in the Philippines, has selected Aicent SMS Gateway to provide two-way Short Messaging Service (SMS) delivery to international destinations, enhancing the messaging experience for Globe's 13.6 million mobile subscribers.

SMS service has been a runaway success for mobile operators worldwide. Nonetheless, to meet the market needs to exchange messages between any user served by any operator, mobile operators today continue to face challenges for effective two-way SMS delivery to international destinations. Many operators are far from satisfied by the limited interworking coverage provided by their bilateral roaming relationships and other existing implementation methods.

Aicent SMS Gateway addresses SMS challenges on a global scale. It offers a one-stop SMS exchange hub that seamlessly connects Globe to mobile operators currently on the Aicent network. Aicent SMS Gateway's network architecture provides interworking between both GSM and CDMA operators, and supports both IP and SS7 connections.

"We are pleased to select Aicent SMS Gateway to provide two-way SMS delivery for our valued customers with friends and relatives in various parts of the world. Consistent to Globe Telecom's extensive international roaming coverage, through this partnership with Aicent, we continue to proactively address our customer's communication needs," said Mr. Lauro Ignacio, Globe Telecom's Consultant for International Roaming Business. "Globe is a recognized world leader in SMS service. We offer our subscribers the highest standards in mobile data service delivery, and will continue our effort to improve SMS interoperability."

"We are excited to partner with Globe to add value to subscribers in the 'SMS texting capital of the world,''' said Lynn Liu, President and CEO of Aicent. "Aicent's low-cost, integrated messaging service is designed to enhance user's experience and maximize operator's mobile data revenue streams. We continue to demonstrate our world-class mobile data expertise established by our data roaming, messaging and other next generation mobile data services"
