BONN, GERMANY -- Following an EU wide tender lasting several months, energy company E.ON has signed a comprehensive ICT outsourcing contract with T-Systems. The Deutsche Telekom subsidiary will be in charge of the E.ON group's international voice and data communications in the future. The contract is worth up to a total volume of EUR 1 billion and the duration is at least five and at most seven years.

"As one of the biggest deals in our company's history, this contract is a milestone for the Group's new ‘Energy’ business area", said Reinhard Clemens, member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom and CEO of T-Systems. "Our goal is to become the best partner for the energy sector and this has brought us a big step closer."

The big deal with E.ON applies to E.ON sites in ten European countries: Germany, UK, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Bulgaria, Italy and the Netherlands. In addition to the operation and management of fixed-network and mobile telephony, the contract also covers the infrastructure of audio, web and video conferences, unified communication services and the operation of the entire data network structure.

Under the outsourcing agreement, around 220 E.ON employees at various international sites will migrate to T-Systems. "The new staff are extremely important for the smooth transfer and management of technology and services. They are familiar with the internal processes and requirements at the E.ON group. Major projects to date have shown that employees quickly feel at home with us and take advantage of the professional opportunities we offer as an ICT specialist", underlined Clemens.
