MILAN, Italy -- Italtel, a leading company in the development and integration of products and services for Next Generation IP/NGN Networks, and Cisco, a worldwide leader in internetworking, announce Agile Service Architecture (ASA), a new IP communication joint solution for the Small-Medium Enterprise (SME) world. This innovative solution provides small-medium multisite enterprises with a common communications experience for all their users regardless of their location.

Agile Service Architecture (ASA) allows Service Providers and Telecom Operators to offer SME customers effective Unified Communication Services by replacing their IP PBX based networks with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (Unified CME). The ASA solution offers a suite of hosted enhanced UC services that integrates the enterprise local area network with the premise-based IP telephony system. It provides a virtual IP Telephony System to customers with multisite location.

ASA is based on Italtel Communication Service Expander (iCSE), an application server hosted by the Service Provider. iCSE is one of the first applications developed for the Cisco Developer Network Program, a program designed to provide developers with expanded and enhanced technical support, marketing, and sales enablement resources to drive the development of more applications for Cisco API's (Application Programming Interfaces).

"With the ASA solution and Italtel Communication Expander we expect Service Providers to be able to increase their profitability by creating differentiation in the SME market, introducing new service revenue streams for their installed base, and growing annual revenue per user while minimizing costs," noted Rubens Malloggi, Italtel Global Alliance lead at Cisco. "We also believe ASA will be key in supporting Service Provider efforts to simplify their business because ASA delivers Unified Communications services from a hosted cloud environment fully integrated with the customer's on-premise IP communications network. We think 2010 promises to be a very exciting year for the Italtel and Cisco alliance in the Managed Services market."
