Some J:COM service areas struck by earthquake, but no casualties amongst group employees

TOKYO -- Notice Regarding the Earthquake Striking Northern Japan

Jupiter Telecommunications Co., Ltd. (J:COM) and its subsidiaries (J:COM group) deeply express heartfelt condolences and sympathies to all casualties of the earthquake that struck Tohoku and Kanto areas on March 11, 2011. Current effect of the disaster on J:COM group is summarized as follows:

1. Status of Damage
Certain J:COM service areas were struck by the earthquake. However, there have been no casualties amongst group employees, and no material property damages to facilities and network equipments in Sendai area, which was hard-hit by the earthquake.

2. Impacts to Business Performance
J:COM currently provides cable television, high-speed internet access and telephony services to approximately 3.4 million subscribing households. 45 thousand households reside in Sendai area, which equates to approximately 1.3%. Although we are currently experiencing major service disruptions in Sendai, services in other areas are almost back to normal. We are currently assessing overall impacts of the disaster, including planned power stoppages in Kanto area. We shall make appropriate disclosures if necessary.
