Did Hulu Hamstring Hillcrest's TV Browser?

10:55 AM -- Is Hulu LLC blocking full access to "Kylo," a new browser from Hillcrest Labs that's optimized for TV screens? Do we have another Hulu vs. Boxee battle on our hands? (See Hulu Blocks Boxee's Workaround Solution.)

We're not sure yet, but Hillcrest's looking into that possibility after it discovered this morning that Hulu videos are no longer playing properly on Kylo, a PC-to-TV browser that Hillcrest launched today. Hillcrest hopes the browser will juice sales for its "Loop" air-mouse/remote control. (See Hillcrest Web Browser Targets Cord Cutters.)

"We are currently investigating why Hulu videos are not playing within the Kylo browser," Hillcrest CEO Dan Simpkins said, in a statement released Monday morning. "Prior to our formal launch, Hulu videos would play within the Kylo browser. Like Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari, the Kylo browser is simply a Web browser, it's our sincere hope that Hulu isn't restricting access."

We're checking in with both parties this morning and will have an update on this story soon.
