Apple in Talks With Publishers

11:00 AM -- Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) reps are in New York this week for "secret" tablet-related negotiations with the six biggest book publishers, according to reports.

According to a report from The Bookseller, publishers are seeking an "agency model," which would allow them to control access and pricing.

Apple had better hurry if it's going to have deals signed by Jan. 27, the date when it's expected to reveal its tablet device, rumored to be called the iSlate, to the world.
