SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Allied Telesis (formerly Allied Telesyn), a global provider of secure Ethernet/IP access solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over fiber and copper infrastructure, today announced the availability of the ON1000, a small form-factor optical networking unit (ONU) that supports data services up to 1Gbps across a GEPON network.

Ideal for businesses requiring a high-bandwidth data connection, the ON1000 makes any business network GEPON ready by providing IEEE compliant 802.3ah PX20 WAN uplink and a 10/100/1000T LAN connection in a small 4”x4” metal enclosure. An ON1000 then converts existing Ethernet switches and routers into GEPON network termination points, allowing for a complete PON overbuild of service provider networks. The ON1000 can be easily managed and configured using the AlliedView network management software.

“Our breadth of offerings and unequaled flexibility have made Allied Telesis the first choice for end-to-end IP/Ethernet solutions,” said Philip Yim, executive vice president of global marketing & product development for Allied Telesis. “As the demand for more bandwidth continues to escalate, service providers look to Allied Telesis to help them with the migration to higher capacity services.”
