MIAMI -– Optenet, a leading global IT security company and a provider of intelligent, integrated content security solutions, today announced the launch of its North American operations and the opening of its regional headquarters in Miami, Florida. Led by President, CEO and founder Francisco Martin, who has relocated from Spain to Miami to direct the company’s expansion into North America, Optenet will sell its award-winning content security solutions to service providers and enterprises throughout North America.

Optenet’s product suite, which includes Web filtering, anti-spam and anti-virus protection, is the industry’s most comprehensive natively integrated content security solution, and is currently protecting more than 75 million users worldwide. Among the company’s customer base are 50 of the world’s largest service providers, including Telefonica, Orange and O2, and many large enterprise customers, including Hilton, McDonalds, Daimler AG and more than half of the IBEX 35, Spain’s benchmark stock index.

The unmatched flexibility, performance and customization of Optenet’s Content Security Suite enables service providers to drive revenue by broadening their portfolio of service offerings and radically reducing the cost of delivering customized, hosted security services. In addition, enterprises can now manage everything from Web filtering, to anti-spam, anti-virus and more from a single console with Optenet’s Secure Web Gateway for Enterprises, eliminating the costs and complexity associated with relying on multiple hardware-based security appliances and a variety of management consoles. Optenet’s technology offers North American customers the ability to centrally manage security policies, while still providing custom solutions that meet the needs of each user.

Optenet was founded by Francisco Martin in 1997 as an Internet service provider (ISP). Based on its unique understanding of the requirements and challenges faced by companies in the Internet and telecommunications service segments, the company built a carrier-class security solution that offers unparalleled scalability for both service providers and enterprises. Martin has been president and CEO since the company’s founding, building on his strong research background in artificial intelligence and message filtering. Prior to founding Optenet, Martin worked for numerous international R&D companies, including the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Center for Industrial Technological Development. He has also participated in various government research projects and has authored multiple articles.

“Given our heritage as a service provider, we recognized long ago that carriers and enterprises alike require a high-performance content security gateway that alleviates the cost and complexity of multiple loosely integrated point solutions,” said Martin. “Today, as a security vendor, Optenet is proud to offer the industry’s highest performing content security solution – through a centrally managed architecture with customizable policy control – to the North American market.”
