Sarin's Bumper Bonus

6:00 AM -- When Arun Sarin leaves the top job at Vodafone next month, he will walk away with a package worth about a whopping $50 million. (See Sarin Steps Down as Vodafone CEO and Vodafone Names New CEO.)

Sarin, who announced his departure from Vodafone last month, will receive a £3.6 million ($7 million) pay package this year, which includes his basic salary of £1.3 million ($2.5 million), a bonus of £2.1 million ($4.1 million), and benefits worth £155,000 ($302,000).

Sarin’s shares and share options are worth more than £22 million ($43 million), which brings his total goodbye package to more than £25 million ($50 million).

According to The Times Rich List, Sarin is already worth £60 million.

Sarin’s successor, the current deputy CEO Vittorio Colao, will be paid less than Sarin in his first year. Colao’s salary will be £975,000 ($1.9 million), but he could earn up to £9 million ($17.6 million) if he meets all his financial performance targets.
