KOMAKI, Japan -- Santec, a leading manufacturer of optical components and test instruments for the fiber optics industry, today announces the release of its latest Optical Tunable Filter product, OTF-930. Santec has long been recognized as the leading manufacturer of tunable filters for DWDM applications. The unique Linear Sliding technology using dielectric thin-film filters provides a full 80nm tuning range with low polarization dependence and low dispersion characteristics. A wide selection of filter profiles are available. The filters do not require any thermal control and as such have excellent wavelength stability.

The new OTF-930 builds on the success of the previous OTF-920 filter unit. Improvements in both the optical filter and the optics design have resulted in up to a 10dB reduction in loss. This is particularly important for narrow bandwidth filters and provides a low loss filter for selection of individual channels from an ITU grid. Other applications include ASE noise filtering for transmitter or system testing, realization of a tunable incoherent light-source when used in conjunction with a broadband source and optical signal noise filtering.

The OTF-930 retains its peak search function and full RS-232C and GPIB interfaces. LabView drivers are available. It is suitable for both laboratory or production environments.
