REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Nominum, a pioneering provider of IP address management, DNS and DHCP infrastructure software, today announced that Samsung Networks, a global corporate Internet Service Provider (ISP), has selected the Nominum Foundation (tm) Caching Name Server to boost DNS performance and enhance the quality of its real service network.

Samsung Networks offers a full range of data communication, telephony, e-commerce and digital media services to global enterprises. With Samsung Networks handling communication for more than 300 client sites across 70 countries, the stability, security and availability of the network is mission-critical for the company.

LinuxKorea, Nominum's distribution partner serving Korea, signed the deal with Samsung Networks and delivered the Nominum Foundation Caching Name Server to address the company's need for a scalable and easy-to-manage solution that is capable of supporting the name resolution demands of its network. This added functionality and flexibility of the Caching Name Server allows Samsung Networks to provide state-of-the-art and reliable network service to their subscribers throughout the world.

"The selection was based on the superior performance capabilities of Nominum's DNS solution. When benchmarked against BIND servers, the Nominum Foundation Caching Name Server proved to be ten times faster," said Sunjoo Jang of LinuxKorea, who consulted on this project. "The increased performance will allow Samsung Networks to significantly enhance the speed and reliability of its network, which will allow its customers to benefit directly from these increased efficiencies."

"In the past, management of our infrastructure was cumbersome, with valuable IT resources being allocated to continually update BIND with software patches and reconfigure DNS. With the Nominum Foundation Caching Name Server in place, we are now able to allocate these resources to more strategic IT functions," said Daewon Choi, System Engineer and DNS Manager of Samsung Networks.
