SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. -- Xebeo Communications, Inc., a leading developer of Metro Optical Packet Switches, today announced enhancements to the MPLS WorkBench that include Customer Centric QueuingC and industry leading MPLS traffic engineering and path restoration. The MPLS WorkBench is a PC based MPLS Switch for evaluating MPLS protocols and networking in a laboratory environment and is used by Xebeo customers to model complex network configurations. "The enhancements to MPLS WorkBench allow our customers to evaluate the capability for MPLS networks to provide both the QoS and SLAs of ATM and the fault restoration of SONET." Said Rohit Dube, a co-founder of Xebeo and its lead protocol architect. "Our Customer Centric Queuing allows carriers to guarantee bandwidth of individual circuits, while allowing customers to prioritize their traffic within the circuit." MPLS Workbench provides hands on experience with both mature and emerging IETF standards for Multi-Protocol Label Switched (MPLS) networks, which are emerging as the choice for next generation backbone and metro networks. The availability of such a capability on a 1 Rack Unit PC allows the evaluation of how MPLS performs in large networks under normal, heavily loaded and degraded scenarios at minimal cost. The traffic engineering, restoration and operations of MPLS offer significant CAPEX and OPEX reductions for carriers. The fail over and restoration capabilities inherent to MPLS circuits together with Customer Centric Queuing deliver the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and application Quality of Service (QoS) Guarantees that enable new premium and managed services revenue. Xebeo is currently offering MPLS WorkBench as a resource for select carrier customers. Stated Michael Skarzynski, President and CEO of Xebeo, "MPLS WorkBench has been a win-win for Xebeo and our carrier customers. Our carriers have a better appreciation for Xebeo's attention to Network Service Quality and Resiliency and we benefit from their expertise in designing and operating large networks. As we continue to enhance our Metrobridge Switch Capabilities, our customers can easily evaluate it in large network configurations". Xebeo Communications Inc.
