Viettel Selects ECI

PETAH TIKVA, Israel -- ECI Telecom (NASDAQ:ECIL), a global provider of networking infrastructure equipment, announced today that Viettel has selected ECI's optical and broadband access solutions to expand their network in Vietnam. As one of the major suppliers of equipment for Viettel's network, ECI has supplied its XDM® Multi-Service Transmission Platform (MSTP), BroadGate®(BGTM) Multi-Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP), and Hi-FOCuS(TM) Multi-Service Access Node (MSAN) platform in an IP DSLAM configuration. This win demonstrates ECI's growing strength and presence not only in the Vietnam market, but also in the emerging markets of Southeast Asia. The project is being implemented by ECI's business partner in Vietnam, Ntegrator. Ntegrator is an integration specialist for network infrastructure and voice communication systems.

ECI and Ntegrator have been leading suppliers in Viettel for the past nine years, supplying optical equipment for nationwide wireless backhaul. Under this new contract, ECI is once again providing leading edge optical solutions as well as broadband access for Viettel's network expansion. A new, over 2,000 km long haul DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) network with a capacity of 40 channels of 10Gb/s was deployed based on ECI's XDM all-range(TM) platform. This network utilizes state-of-the-art optical technologies including very high power fiberamplifiers, widely tunable lasers and very long reach transponders. Viettel also chose ECI's cost-effective, miniature BG-20 optical platform in order to provide optical access for backhauling of mobile base station traffic.

In addition, for this network expansion, Viettel installed ECI's Hi-FOCuS(TM)-5 MSAN platform to increase DSL broadband access from Ho Chi Minh City to the other major cities and provinces in the country. The Hi-FOCuS platform gives Viettel greater network capacity and unique service enabling features to provide high-bandwidth services, including IPTV.

Viettel selected ECI's optical and broadband platforms because they have multi-service capabilities and are highly scalable, enabling Viettel to easily grow their network and add minimal hardware for a smooth and cost-efficient upgrade.
