ISLEWORTH, U.K. -- Knorr-Bremse AG, the world’s leading manufacturer of braking systems for rail and commercial vehicles, has signed a ten million Euros contract with pioneering global Virtual Network Operator (VNO) Vanco, for a new Wide Area Network (WAN). As part of this five year contract, Vanco will provide a combined MPLS and IPSec network to the Munich based company, connecting 91 corporate locations of Knorr-Bremse AG in Asia, Europe and the USA. Vanco will also migrate and manage all existing third party contracts.

A scheduled launch of new IT applications, to update technology in the existing networks, presented a challenge to Knorr-Bremse AG. The company needed improved data transmission and more bandwidth to guarantee for a smooth and fast global roll-out of the new applications.

“Vanco’s virtual network is the ideal foundation for our global IT infrastructure. We now feel relaxed about setting up the new applications in our locations all over the world – after all Vanco is making sure that we have an end-to-end and reliable network across all countries. For all issues concerning the global network, Vanco is now our sole support partner,” says Werner Zengler, IT Director at Knorr-Bremse AG.
