LONDON -- Ovum RHK today posted its analysis of global second quarter 2007 DSL and CMTS port shipments.

“The DSL market grew strongly in 2Q07 on the back of a spurt in Asia-Pacific (shipments crossed the 10-million mark for the first time), particularly in the Chinese market. In addition, there was continued demand from operators deploying IPTV and next-generation networks in North America and EMEA,” said Kamalini Ganguly, Analyst, Broadband Network Strategies, at Ovum RHK. “Alcatel-Lucent and Huawei remained number one and two in the DSL market, with both vendors recording their highest-ever shipments.”

2Q07 highlights:

  • DSLAM shipments growth versus 1Q07 = 10 percent

  • DSLAM shipments growth versus 2Q06 = 16 percent

  • CMTS shipments growth versus 1Q07 = 3 percent

  • CMTS shipments growth versus 2Q06 = 10 percent

Alcatel-Lucent shipped 9.6 million DSL ports in 2Q07 (36 percent market share on a rolling 4-quarter basis), followed by Huawei (19 percent), ZTE (10 percent), Ericsson (8 percent), Nokia Siemens Networks (7 percent), Fujitsu (4 percent), and UTStarcom (4 percent).

In the CMTS market, Cisco remained the dominant vendor with 50 percent rolling 4Q market share, followed by Arris (30 percent), Motorola (15 percent), and BigBand (3 percent). Arris continued to gain market share at the expense of its competitors.
