RIM BlackOut

9:00 AM -- Whoops! BlackBerry probably didn't want to kick off the week of Mobile World Congress with news of a major BlackBerry outage in North America.

The mobile email service was down for three hours across the U.S. on Monday evening. RIM fixed the problem by midnight. Nonethless, it is the second major outage for the Canadian vendor in less than a year.

Meanwhile, here in Barcelona it is still not clear what -- if anything -- RIM will announce at the show. Some analysts have suggested that an HSDPA 3G BlackBerry waits in the wings. What would grab the headlines, however, is any sign of RIM's touch-screen interface.(See RIM's Touching New BlackBerry Plans.)
