Remember Alice?

9:00 AM -- It was a Thanksgiving tradition, at least around these parts, for certain radio stations to give Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant" a spin. For those unfamiliar, or born too late, the song is an 18-minute 60s classic that explains how a Thanksgiving-day littering arrest disqualified Arlo from the Vietnam War draft. It includes such classic lines as, "Kill! Kill! KILL!!"

Most of the classic rock stations that used to play the song have died out. KFOG is still around, so it might be worth tuning in at noon tomorrow to see what's up.

But fret not, the tradition lives on. According to The Wall Street Journal, of all places, Sirius Satellite Radio is going to play the song all day, on Channel 16. As Arlo himself says in the original recorded verison, "I'm not proud... or tired..."

re: Remember Alice? I played it in my bar here in Bonaire yesterday. On an island that doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving, it didn't get a big reaction, but at least I gave it a try.
