PETALUMA, Calif. -- Turin Networks, a global provider of multiservice optical transport solutions for carrier, wireless and private networks, announced today that RCN Business Solutions, a premiere transport, internet, bulk video and voice service provider to the carrier and enterprise business communities, is deploying Turin’s Traverse® Multiservice Transport Switch in key Metro areas to deliver flexible, high-bandwidth Carrier Ethernet services to business customers.

The deployed Carrier Ethernet applications include multipoint E-LAN, as well as point-to-point Ethernet Private Line (EPL) services at both 10/100 and 1,000 Mbps rates, with bandwidth flexibility in 1 Mbps increments. These services increase the business group’s versatility in delivering tailored service packages to enterprise customers. RCN Business Solutions is now able to accommodate an enterprise customer’s changing requirements without additional equipment or truck rolls.

RCN’s new Carrier Ethernet services are powered by Turin’s industry-leading Traverse® Multiservice Transport Switch. The Traverse platform, which recently received “Carrier Ethernet Certified” status from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), unifies Carrier Ethernet/MPLS switching with next-generation SONET/SDH functionality in a single shelf optimized for metro and interoffice deployments.
