RapidIO Gang Beats Drum

AUSTIN, Texas -- The RapidIOR Trade Association (RTA), a membership-based organization dedicated to driving the RapidIO interconnect architecture globally (www.RapidIO.org), applauded the introduction last Friday of the world's first serial RapidIOR switch, counting it as a significant achievement that underscores RapidIO's strong ecosystem of embedded silicon, software, systems, and OEM companies.

"The announcement of Tundra's Tsi568A serial RapidIO switch marks the beginning of a significant year for RapidIO, with more than 20 RapidIO-based products scheduled for introduction including switches, processors, bridges, FPGAs, silicon IP, boards, software and tools," said Iain Scott, executive director of the RapidIO Trade Association. "The debut of these products throughout the year will ensure OEMs have the devices they need to speed development of RapidIO- based solutions for the embedded marketplace."

The RapidIO Interconnect Architecture, designed to be compatible with the most popular integrated communications processors, host processors, and networking digital signal processors, is a high-performance, packet-switched, interconnect technology. It addresses the high-performance embedded industry's need for reliability, increased bandwidth, and faster bus speeds in an intra-system interconnect. The RapidIO interconnect allows chip-to-chip and board-to-board communications at performance levels scaling to 10 Gigabits per second and beyond.
