RAD Data Communications launches crossconnect device offering E1/T1 grooming

TEL AVIV -- RAD Data Communications has introduced its new DXC-4, a compact plug-and-play cross-connect device offering reliable E1/T1 grooming for up to 8 fractional E1/T1 lines.

“Maximizing bandwidth utilization is always important, especially in the competitive cellular, wireless and leased line markets,” says Orly Nahum, DXC Product Line Manager at RAD Data Communications. “The DXC-4 helps streamline bandwidth utilization by collecting up to 31/24 DS0 timeslots from different leased lines and mapping them onto a single full E1/T1 trunk,” explains Nahum. “Alternatively it can be used to improve services by separating and redirecting TDM traffic flow according to type, for example, voice or data.”

Available with either 4 or 8 E1/T1 ports, DXC-4 is fully standards-compliant, making it interoperable with any existing E1/T1 equipment. For flexibility, ports are set for E1 or T1 operation by software, and the unit is equipped with a power supply that runs on both 100 to 240VAC and 48VDC power. The unit’s metal casing is 21.3 cm/8.4 inches deep, making it suitable for ETSI rack installation. All connectors and LEDs are on the front side and the power supply cable is tilted 90° to ensure easy and convenient installation and operation. A second power supply can be ordered for enhanced redundancy.

For management, DXC-4 has both an Ethernet and an RS-232 port and can be managed locally or remotely via management options like RADview TDM for UNIX or PC, Telnet, ASCII terminal, and dedicated timeslot management. In addition it can be configured using a simple Web browser.

The DXC-4 complements the larger members of the DXC family of Multiservice Access Concentrators, offering a competitive low-end solution for traffic grooming. Only 1U high and 21.5 cm/8.5 inches wide, the DXC-4 is one of the smallest groomers in the market. Two units, side by side, fit on a single 19-inch rack shelf.
