Fahri Diner joins Applied Materials Ventures as general partner

MENLO PARK, Calif. -- Applied Materials Ventures, a venture capital partnership that focuses on early stage communications companies, today announced that Fahri Diner has joined the firm as a General Partner. Mr. Diner is the founder and former President and CEO of Qtera Corporation, a leading provider of ultra-long-haul photonic networking solutions that was acquired in 2000 by Nortel Networks.“Fahri is one of the communications industry’s bright lights, combining a terrific mix of strategic, operational and technical experience with a wealth of contacts," said Julien Nguyen, General Partner of Applied Materials Ventures. “As a successful entrepreneur himself, Fahri can identify new opportunities, while truly appreciating the challenges and risks involved in building a communications company.
