Broadband depolariser's fused-fiber construction is designed for sources used in Raman pump lasers

HACKBRIDGE, U.K. -- ProtoDel international has launched a broadband in-line fibre Depolariser to operate over the entire transmission network window (1300-1610nm). The all-fibre, passive Depolariser features a fused-fibre construction with no free space optics, moving parts or bending in the light path. This depolariser is specifically deigned for sources used in Raman pump lasers. As the non-linear effect that produces the Raman amplification in the fibre is highly dependent on the polarisation state, it is critical to depolarise the pump source to optimise amplification.

The fibre Depolarisers are designed to provide a truly unpolarisered light with DOP <1%. The devices feature a low insertion loss and can handle high power laser input. The standard device has a typical degree of depolarisation <0.02dB and insertion loss of <1.0dB. This product can be used to achieve 0.2dB residual extinction ratio for the input sources with line-width >0.06nm.
