CRANBURY, N.J. -- Princeton Lightwave, Inc.(PLI), a leading supplier of specialized optical sources, detectors and detection sub-systems, announced the addition of detecting mixed -mode signal capability within its line of Optical Channel Monitors (OCM).

The detection capabilities to recognize mixed mode signals, consisting of different bit rates and different modulation formats within a single OCM provides flexibility to network designers since they can use one instrument for any data rate or data format. The OCM uses PLI's proprietary firmware so that it can automatically recognize given input of data rates and channel formats in a spectrum in real time.

" A number of our customers have requested mixed mode functionality for ease of use and for inventory control", said PLI's Product Manager, David Jhaveri. He further stated that the OCM can monitor signals in any combination of data modes, 10G/40G, NRZ/RZ/CSRZ, while accurately reporting wavelength and power in each mode. It is like combining five OCMs in one. Addition of this capability brings down costs for our customers thus providing them greater value for their system." The Optical Channel Monitor (OCM) is in production. This design platform has been proven over the years in more than ten thousands of delivered products.
