FREMONT, CA – Primanex Corporation, a provider of highly reliable optical devices based in Fremont, California, has introduced a new 2x2 magneto-optical (MO) switch with smooth transient behavior today. The most notable feature of this switch is the output optical power transient characteristics. In particular the sum of two output channels never drops more than 5 dB relative to the total input power, and after switching the cross talk of the switch is still below –50 dB. This switch can be used in all optical amplifiers to suppress power transient caused by adding and dropping channels during normal operation and by channel failure. This transient behavior is made possible by a proprietary magneto-optical technology innovation from Primanex. Further benefits from this technology include: very fast switching speed in the range of 0.5 milliseconds; very compact size of the device; and excellent reliability due to the all solid-state design.
