ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- PPL Telcom, an unregulated subsidiary of PPL Corporation, today announced T1 Internet service is now available for small businesses in several of its Pennsylvania markets, filling a void for those businesses whose only previous options were digital subscriber line (DSL) and cable modem connections.

The T1 Internet service is ideal for small businesses that require 1.5 MB of bandwidth and need the reliability and security of a dedicated Internet connection. With PPL Telcom’s dedicated Internet connection, the customer receives a fixed level of bandwidth along with greater security and enhanced features, which is far superior to shared medium services with oversubscribed bandwidth.

“Small businesses make up more than 80 percent of all businesses in the United States, yet they have the least amount of options when it comes to their Internet needs,” said Nitin Krishna, product manager for PPL Telcom. “They have the same internal requirements as larger companies, such as e-mail, FTP and e-commerce. Our T1 service offers a level of reliability that DSL and cable modems simply cannot match.”
