FARMINGDALE, N.Y. and HOD HASHARON, Israel -- PowerDsine Ltd. (Nasdaq:PDSN), a pioneer in Power over Ethernet (PoE) solutions, announced today that it has filed a suit against Belden CDT Inc. and its subsidiary Red Hawk Network Essentials, Inc.

PowerDsine commenced an action before the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of New York alleging that certain products manufactured and sold by Belden CDT and Red Hawk infringe PowerDsine's U.S. Patent No. 6,473,608 (the '608 Patent).

The United States Patent and Trademark Office issued the '608 Patent, entitled "Structure Cabling System," to PowerDsine on October 29, 2002. The '608 Patent covers certain Power over Ethernet (PoE) products that are compliant with the IEEE 802.3af standard.

Simon Kahn, PowerDsine's Director of Intellectual Property stated, "PowerDsine resorts to this type of action only once it is convinced that its efforts to reach an amicable resolution of the matter have failed."
