Polatis, the Cambridge (UK) based company developing ultra-high performance optical switches, today announced that it is introducing the PSC32 Configurable Optical Switch System targeted at Test and Measurement applications. The PSC32 combines the ultra high performance of the Polatis optical switch engine in a unit that provides true flexibility and ease of use.

The PSC32 optical switch provides a ready solution for applications that require flexibility in port count and configuration. Each of the 32 optical connections can be assigned as either input or output ports through a front panel touch screen or via a remote Ethernet interface. The system can be instantly configured to operate as a 1x31, 2x30, switch all the way to a 16x16. Additionally, multiple sub-switches such as dual 1x15 or quad 4x4 can be created on the same fabric and independently controlled.

“Our customers have come to see the performance advantages of the patented Polatis 3-D beam steered optical switching technology. The introduction of the PSC32 brings the benefit of that technology directly to Test and Measurement applications that require dynamic switch redefinition. The ability to dynamically redefine the port configuration of the PSC32 combined with the exceptional optical performance of the switch engine provides a compelling, future-proofed, solution offering true flexibility for customers that require customised optical switch configurations,” said Dr. Jas Sandhu, Business Development Manager at Polatis.
