LONDON -- PIPEX, the telecom network operator and provider of business broadband solutions, has extended the coverage of its SDSL offering beyond London to include Leeds, Bristol, Edinburgh and Manchester. The new service provides business customers with a cost-effective high-speed alternative to traditional leased line Internet access.

PIPEX has been offering SDSL services to customers in the London area for around 12 months and, following recent product development, is now offering customers in other major UK cities the benefits of fast and reliable SDSL services.

SDSL is similar to a traditional leased line Internet connection - a copper circuit is used as a high-speed digital link - but is much more cost-effective. The service provides flexible symmetric bandwidth for business applications, such as email, file transfer, web browsing, corporate Intranet access, web hosting and remote LAN access. With a fixed monthly fee and no dial-up or call charges, businesses have complete budgetary control. It is possible to contend SDSL in the same way as ADSL – sharing bandwidth across multiple connections – and PIPEX is now able to deliver 10:1, 5:1 or 1:1 contended services.
