ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Performance Technologies (Nasdaq NM: PTIX), a leading developer of integrated systems, platforms, components and software, today announced Pioneer Cellular is using the company’s SEGway(™) 6200 Mini-STP to consolidate SS7 traffic on the Pioneer wireless cellular network, allowing the company to significantly reduce costs while offering value-add, next-generation services to customers.

Pioneer provides revenue-generating services with CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) technology, such as picture and text messaging, mobile Web browsing and downloadable applications. Performance Technologies’ SEGway Mini-STP is enabling the company to offer competitive long distance telecommunications and expanded user services for residential and business customers, without incurring additional costs. Performance Technologies offers a suite of feature-rich STP solutions that allow small and mid-size carriers to manage and take control of their SS7 network and reduce the requirement for costly, leased SS7 links.

“In a business as competitive as the wireless industry, it is imperative that we find ways to surpass our competitors in terms of the services we offer,” said Richard Ruhl, general manager of Pioneer Cellular and Pioneer Telephone Cooperative, Inc. “Performance Technologies’ Mini-STP is a compelling solution that enables us to offer the same services as a large carrier, while utilizing our existing infrastructure. Without the SEGway Mini-STP, we would not be able to offer customers the value-add services we are offering today.”
