Picosecond Pulse Intros Long-Haul Amp

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Optical Fiber Communications Conference (OFC) - March 19, 2001 - Picosecond Pulse Labs, Inc. (PSPL), a leading designer and manufacturer of high-speed optoelectronic components and modules for 10, 40 and 160 Gb/s long-haul optical communications systems, today announced the availability of its highest output driver amplifier to date, Model 5865. This product is designed for terrestrial and submarine broadband applications, specifically for fiber optic transmissions. The 5865 is used by telecommunications systems vendors to design transmitters capable of signal transmission at 12.5 Gb/s along fiber optic lines, and opens the bottlenecks associated with the currently taxed overloaded 2.5 and 10 Gb/s systems in use today.

"The 5865 is the latest example of our commitment to innovation in broadband communications," said Scott Andrews, CEO of Picosecond. "With the availability of a 12.5 Gb/s driver amplifier, Picosecond is affirming its position to be first to market with 40 Gb/s transmitters and receivers, to complement our existing 40 Gb/s components."
